The New Community Project
Building community that builds economic power.
Students from historically marginalized communities have always had talent. What they haven't had is infrastructure — the networks, capital, and relationships that turn talent into economic power.
NewComm is a civic design studio, run by high school students, that builds that infrastructure. Starting in 9th grade, students manage real budgets, solve real problems for real clients, and do it alongside peers they genuinely care about. They don't just develop skills. They develop identity, network, and a deep orientation toward their communities.
We are the evolution of the college access program. Our students get into competitive colleges and professional opportunities — just like traditional college access programs. But our students arrive differently equipped, having already managed capital and navigated real client relationships. And they leave differently oriented. Because NewComm never defined success as individual escape. It defined success as collective power.
Every dollar you give flows directly into historically marginalized communities — not as charity, but as investment directed by the students who live there. $10,000 per student project. Real clients. Real outcomes. Real stakes.
Your support builds the infrastructure that communities have always deserved.
NewComm currently operates two Design Studios in New York City, serving 150 students across five partner schools. We are building toward a national network of studios — one community at a time.
