Give Through Your Donor Advised Fund

Help us build a world where C. diff is rare, treatable, and survivable

If you have a donor advised fund (DAF), you have a powerful way to turn your giving into lasting change for people affected by Clostridioides difficile (C. diff). A grant from your DAF to the Peggy Lillis Foundation supports patients and families today and helps us work toward a future where this infection no longer devastates lives.

Why we exist

Peggy Lillis was a Brooklyn kindergarten teacher, a mother of two, and a devoted daughter. In 2010, she died from C. diff, an infection that is often preventable and treatable when people know what to look for and where to turn. Her sons, Christian and Liam, and her community turned their grief into action. The Peggy Lillis Foundation was founded in her memory.

Today, we are the leading C. diff patient advocacy organization in the United States. Our mission is to build a nationwide C. diff awareness movement by educating the public, empowering advocates, and shaping policy.

How your gift moves our mission forward

Every DAF grant helps us close the gap between what people need and what the system currently provides. Your support helps us:

  • Reach people sooner. When patients and families recognize the signs of C. diff early, they can seek care sooner and ask better questions.

  • Make sure no one faces C. diff alone. Trusted information and peer connection help people through a frightening and often isolating illness.

  • Strengthen the voices of those who have lived it. Patients, survivors, and families are the most powerful advocates for change.

  • Drive progress in science and policy. Better research, better prevention, and better protections depend on sustained attention and investment.

What your grant supports

Public education and awareness. We create accurate, accessible resources for patients, caregivers, and the public, and we lead national awareness efforts, including C. diff Awareness Month. Education is the first line of defense against a preventable infection.

Patient and family support. Our Peer Support Network connects people affected by C. diff with others who understand what they are going through. Our patient and family advocacy work helps people navigate diagnosis, treatment, recovery, and the fear of recurrence.

Advocacy and healthcare policy. We work to shape policies that improve prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of C. diff, and we give patients a seat at the table where decisions are made.

Research and scientific collaboration. We help move the science forward by spotlighting promising clinical research, supporting efforts to connect patients with trials, and convening experts through our Scientific Symposium, where leading researchers and clinicians share new findings.

Speakers and community engagement. Through our Speakers Bureau, patients, survivors, and experts bring the C. diff story to communities, conferences, and media, building a movement that grows stronger every year.

Why give from your DAF

  • It is simple. Recommend a grant through your DAF sponsor's website, and we will take care of the rest.

  • It can be tax-smart. Giving through a DAF may allow you to support causes you care about while managing your charitable giving strategically. Please consult your tax advisor about your individual situation.

  • It honors a legacy. You can make a grant in honor or in memory of someone you love, and we will gladly acknowledge your tribute.

  • It has lasting impact. Your support helps ensure that fewer families experience what the Lillis family did.

Together, we can change the story

Peggy's story did not have to end the way it did. With your support, we can make sure more people recognize C. diff, get the care they need, and survive it.
